what a fun way to spend an almost-autumn Saturday! we met a bunch of Miss Girl’s old schoolmates for a play date at B.J. Reece Orchards near Ellijay. an hour and a half drive for normal people. us, maybe 2 hours? nonetheless, neither Spy nor i had been up there before and didn’t know what to expect and were really pleasantly surprised. there was (of course) apple picking . . .
there were ponies (mommy’s a sucker for the horses. Sagittarian. go figure.)

and pony riding . . .

and cow milking. for real, y’all. eeeeeww. .
there were the cutest goats . . .

and beautiful scenery . . .

there was a cow train . . .

and pig races, duh . . .

and fried pies for the winners!

and when we’d worn ourselves out, there was a nap in the car on the way to Helen. (yippee!) who knew it was the beginning of Oktoberfest there? when in Helen during Oktoberfest . . .

seriously, such a fun way to spend the day: exploring a new-for-us part of Georgia — all within just a couple hours’ drive. we’re already contemplating cabins for next fall, but even if it’s just for a day trip, we will definitely be back!
