    5 on Friday

So this posting every day thing is hard, y’all! But I guess I knew that going in. It’s been a while since I’ve challenged myself with daily posts, but that familiar feeling of torture mixed with accomplishment is still the same.  By my count, I’m down 5 posts, including one for today. So Imma wrap ’em up here and try to get back on track! This Friday, I’m thankful for . . . 1. A phone call from a friend Spy is traveling again and I’ve got a 10-day stretch of being a single mo

    #tagwithella

I came across this little girl’s story on twitter today and it broke my heart. She suffers from a disease called epidermolysis bullosa that makes her skin extremely fragile, causing it to blister and tear. It is hard for her to even move because her condition is so painful. And running and playing like other 10-year olds is out of the question because of the pain, as well as the potential for bumps and scrapes that could be devastating. Even hugging kids with this disease can

    Hands Up for the Weekend!

Sometimes it’s the little things, y’all. Today, I’m thankful for an easy friday, with a very happy client on the other end of my only call and no unexpected work shenanigans. And now . . . Omigod. It’s the weekend! What are you thankful for today? Each day during this month of thanksgiving, I hope to post a thought about something I’m thankful for as a reminder of how much I have. #friYAY #weekend #Thanksgiving #gratitudejournaling #thankful

Birds of A Different Feather Flocking Together

Getting this one in under the wire! But sure enough, it took me all day and a couple late “meetings” (at lovely rooftop bars on this gorgeous autumn evening) to crystallize this thought . . . Pretty much no one can deny that the political climate is crazy right now. Well, let me take that back. Pretty much anyone who’s paying any attention, asking questions and looking at multiple news sources can’t deny that the political climate is crazy right now. (because I literally have

    When One Door Closes . . .

I’ve got a little personal project that i’ve been working for a while now. It’s involved knocking on a lot of doors to get support, with a lot of dead ends and frustrations along the way. Monday, I realized i’d hit another dead end. I was discouraged. I was ready to give up. I decided I might have finally been beaten. I booked a sit-down with myself to start brainstorming new directions to take — after I moped around a bit, of course. Then, right there in the middle of my mop

NaBloPoMo day 26: the truth about Thanksgiving Eve

yeah, that’s right. pizza. frozen pizza. it’s what’s for dinner. and i know i’m not alone. because tonight’s dinner is like 675 million times less important than tomorrow’s. i had to stay focused. you see, 5 hours ago, i embarked on preparations for the Holy Grail of American holiday meals. it was messy. and exhausting. there were missteps and near misses. and every year, it’s one of my absolute, over-the-top favorite nights of the entire effing year. the truth is i might act

    NaBloPoMo day 23: thankful 13

oh hai. yeah, in case you haven’t looked at a calendar, Thanksgiving is mere days away. and if you have looked at the blogosphere like ever in November, you know this is the time when everyone around here makes a list of what they’re thankful for. it’s sweet. so sure, i’ll bite. it’s a great, easy excuse for a post and i was planning on doing mine Thursday. but you know what? Thursday, i’m gonna be elbow-deep in a turkey, fixin’ fixins, tossin’ back some Kendall Jackson with
